Katrina aftershock just hit me!

I got my electic bill in today. It was $440. :eek:

That's for two months+ of service - Katrina stopped the September meter
reading.

Ouch, that's gonna hurt!

Can't wait to see mine from MS Power. No insulation in ANY of the walls since September 3!! And no sheetrock either. Of course, didn't get power back until 9/18. But the A/C has run almost constantly since then trying to help dry things out...

I just got mine and it's $387 for ONE month. That only includes the first 4 days of no electricity from Rita so the next one better be a lot less! Gotta love this record heat. :roll:

crikey - I pay £125 a month - some of the helping to clear a little backlog - so I have been paying over $200 a month with the air con unit on about 2 times this year.

My cable bill (includes internet) this month is more than my electric bill. Figure that one out. :lol:

I called about mine - they said they "estimated" since they couldn't get out to read meters. I told them that's fine, but how can you estimate when I didn't have electricity to use? I was assured it would be adjusted when they read meters this month.

Wow! Why so high? Just lack of insulation and constant heat? That on top of high gas prices has gotta hurt.

You'd think the power company would give a little. MCI gave all Katrina victims a free month ----zero bill. Cingular took a fourth off my bill. I didn't ask either to do it ---- they were just trying to help.

In our case, I don't mind. It's a small electric co-op that operates here,
and they've been very good to us over the years. Most of their
infrastructure was completely lost in Katrina. If that helps them
recover a little and avoid bankruptcy, then so be it.

It just hurts writing that check out!

have kids, tv's, game cubes, computers and a/c on along with blow dryers, dishwashers, dryers and washing machine... = during summer month 400 bucks.... and my houes is insulated to the hilt.... you tell me why its so high :roll:

Yeah, my Entergy bill says:
YOUR READING IS ESTIMATED
READING IS ESTIMATED DUE TO THE HURRICANE

Unfortunately, it's not that much higher than the previous month. It's just been so freakin hot down here! Since I was without power for weeks, I expect the next one to be much lower though.

Yeah... we have all that and it's not nearly that high.

Good gosh, what are you all doing for your bills to be so high??!!
Maybe I should be glad I am here in Myrtle. Our highest bill here was $121.00 and I thought that was higher then normal. I run AC day in and out. Half the time with the door opening and shutting. Plus laundry daily, and seems all the TVs and computers are running all the time.
I am feeling ya'll's pain though. I can't even imagine.

ours run 212 a month and thats with 2 units. one for upstairs and one for the down stairs I was surprize that it ran the same every month maybe give a few dollars here and there Anyway I was pleased it was only that amount The weather here has been cool enough the past week that i went ahead and turned the systems off.
I am afraid it will be alot higher this Winter. We sure hope not.

Southern Pine Electric Power Association....AKA the big rip offs....really appreciate their customers. They reduced our September bill by a whoping 1/3. Go figure. Our power was off 1/2 of the month. :eek:
