This late in the season it would be unusual for a TC transversing the GOM not to come under the influence of a trough at some time....MGC

Tampa Bay Hurricane wrote:I have been talking with people here- they all call me
an "obsessive, hysterical maniac" about thinking a storm is possible.
This is very dangerous for them- if TD24 develops and comes anywhere
near Tampa Bay there will be a huge number of complacent
people that would perish

This complacency is dangerous. Many think that these systems will
go to texas or louisiana.

The complacency is typical. Don't fret, just be ready.

I told my aunt about the storm and she smiled and said she was going shopping at the mall the day of the storm. I asked her if she was prepared and her answer was it won't come here and you worry too much.

yep that's how it is in Tampa Bay. They are way overdue for a storm. This could be the rude awakening.

There's no such thing as "overdue" for a storm. The chances of a storm hitting a given piece of coastline in a given year is exactly the same whether it's been 1 year or 100 years since the last hit.
