Does anyone know the name of this kind of system? Is it common for NATL in the fall/winter?

Yes, such lows are common, but this one looks very beautyful :-)
From fall to march we in europe look carefully for the atlantic and for such extratropical lows. They dominate the weather fürm weeks and months on the atlantic and often here in europe.

No, this low is far out in the atlantic, high pressure will dominate the weather here at least for the next 5 to 7 days.
