Have felt the effects of several of those, Andrew by far the worst I've seen, and we are 60 miles north of landfall. Frances 2nd worst about a tie with what we felt here from Katrina's first landfall, then comes Jeanne and Rita.

Gloria (85), Floyd (99) as strong TS/near Hurricanes, Isabel('03) and Ivan('04) as TS's and big flooding rainmakers, tho we had a gust to near hurricane force in Isabel during the late night hours as she passed us.

Well I've never been in any hurricane or TS, but I got some rain from the remnants of Rita a few weeks ago. It was very humid and warm to go with the rain, though not windy too much, if at all. I guess the remnants of Gilbert also passed over Michigan as it was dying out, so I can only assume that I went through that. However, I was four years old, and cannot possibly remember if I did or not.

Our youngest son was born during Andrew, and I clearly remember the strain that hurricane put on my personal life at that time. In my profession, you report when they send you. That was the most emotional hurricane I have covered, not only for the personal stories of so many survivors down there, but for the stress it put on my own family.

Been through all that have hit the Keys after Georgess. We evacuated for Georges and it really hammered the area where I live (close to Key West).

Worst has been Dennis in that time frame (ie after Georges) in my opinion.

Most interesting was Irene when the eye went over us, but it was only a cat 1 and probably isn't on the list.

This year, Dennis, Katrina and Rita.

Thank goodness that they mostly just graze us here and seem to be less intense than when they reach their final landfall!

Camile and Fredrick in Pascagoula (actually Franklin Creek)

Andrew, Lilli, Isidore, Katrina, and Rita all in Baton Rouge La. so I did not get it very bad. Lost power for 8 days with Andrew and a week with Katrina but only 2 days with Rita.

In Philly: Agnes (was a kid and man the rain), Gloria (remember driving to work on the Roosevelt extension in a Chevette, sheesh) and Floyd-the creek behind my apt complex really flooded and driving home from work by the airport and and trying to go home on I-95, a mess! And the next day got to work, the basement of the buildng was flooded and there was a lake in the parking lot, wasn't too far away from the homes that got slammed in Essington.

Technically, my list is the same as Mike's:

Andrew
Frances
Jeanne
Katrina

but Frances and Jeanne were only TS strength down here. Katrina was a Cat 1 when her eye went over me, so I guess that counts. :-)

All of them pale to insignificance compared to Andrew as far as personal experience goes, though. The HRD analysis says I had high-end Cat 3 winds where I rode it out, and that was ten times the storm I ever want to see again.

EDIT: Forgot Donna (not so hard to forget - I was only a couple of months old). Was in Woods Hole, MA for that one. :-)
