This is the weekend where our small unincorporated town
turns into a small city. Yard sales and food booths on each
side of the two-lane highway from here to Hohenwald,
20 miles away, west down Hwy 20. Our family's dogs bark,
relentlessly - strangers are infiltrating their turf. People
are parked on both sides of the highway, checking out
all of the sale items, but being good not to block any
driveways. I have heard MORE kids with their bass
"boom-boom-boom" at a million decibles than I care
to hear in one single hour, already. It takes 15 minutes to
get to the intersection of Hwy 43, which usually takes
about 4 minutes.
Gripe - complain - gripe - complain. LOL, but, everyone
DOES look to be having a good time. It's much cooler
(temps in the upper-50° range), and, partly sunny, perfect
for shopping around town.
Does anyone else have Oktoberfest going on, this weekend?

I know Daytona has a Biketoberfest, and they just opened the biggest Harley shop in the World and they are having ZZTop play there. My husband works there often and says they are setting up already, vendor stands and such. I never go but I am thinking I want to go sometime in the near future. People, shopping, food, and drinks and throw in a little live entertainment, sounds like a blast.

chicagopizza wrote:We had Oktoberfest last week on the riverfront. They had an oompah band, craft booths and German food. However, the funny part was, it had a southern twist. This is the first one I went to that had fried alligator and oysters as part of the food offerings! It was really fun, though!
Did you try the fried alligator?
