When Katrina exploded into a Cat 5 in the GOM...it was like
some diabolical event taking place...like some terrible thing
happening--- and you keep praying and praying for it to stop
or for the storm to weaken, but the surge damage
was horrific- the devastation caused
by this absolute monster is hellish. It's like being completely
helpless when nature is throwing a monster at where people live.

Of couse, if you have casinos worth millions right there in the coast, and a city of millions of people under sea level, then you can expect something like this to happen. Is like Tokyo, the city is beautiful and inmense, but over a very active fault, which means that sooner than later the big one will hit and the devastation will unbelievable.

I have heard people coming up to me and asking me if hurricanes are increasing in intensity. Is not that they are increasing in intensity, is that we continue to build over area prone to catastrophic hurricanes like Katrina was. Places to be devastated will be any of the metropolis in California by a major earthquake, Seattle, Washington, and surroundings are the eruption of Mt. Rainier. New York City, Miami, Tampa, and many metropolis in hurricane-prone areas.

This places are just bombs that haven't been ignited.

I agree that we have built in a lot of vulnerable places...and that
an active cycle by default will do serious damage like this...

So regardless of whether or not hurricane intensity is increasing,
many places that are vulnerable will likely see serious damage
this active cycle.

Personally I believe in the increased intensity theories...BUT
regardless of these theories serious damage is likely in
vulnerable areas.
