Don't things come in 3's. Most of the time they do. So there just might be one more bad hurricane for the US. AN I hope it is not in or near La for they have had 2.

Did you forget about Dennis. The Florida panhandle took a beating and damage estimates were between 6 and 9 billion dollars.

Sorry I did forget. He was a cat 4 with winds of 125.

That's ok. After the last two seasons I have lost track of many myself. Charlie damaged my home to the extent that it took 7 months of repairs before I could move back in. We were due for one after 44 years without a hit since Donna in 1960. Time ran out.

Don't Forget TS Cindy. She was almost a cane and did some pretty bad damage in La. herself. We have had 3 storms in La. this year.

I know I lived in Ft Myers for a while. Mom and Dad lived there for 30 years. And I still Have two of my kids that live there and a Brother.
I am sorry about your home . I know it takes time to rebuild. Took us 1 1/2 years to redo our from floyd.. :wink:

My two cents worth. If you live near the ocean watch out. The climate is changing and I believe within the next 10yrs we are going to know for sure that we messed up the environment. Warmer water = bigger storms.

the conditions to get a legit "bad one" are almost gone...the season for a major is quickly coming to an end.

It might be "gone" but there is still instability left in the NW Carribean for something to form in the near (not very near) future.

Yes. Having a major hit the US now is going to be quite rare, but having majors hurricanes around and doing damage to the islands isn't uncommon at all. Examples include Mitch, October 26-November 1st or something like that, with winds of 180mph, Michelle with winds of 140 that hit Cuba and almost scraped Florida and Lenny, the late November storm that hit the Windwards (yeah, from that direction). So to say that the season for majors is over entirely is probably going too far.

Also - don't forget Hurricane "O" that skirted the NC coast - with her winds and rains that didn't want to go away - and left our coastal areas to pick up the pieces -

Doubtful....i think people said we were in a lull...but why would any say that at the peak of the season?

And all I said is the season is coming to an end, which it is, "....especially for majors threatening the US.....not that its "over"
