Exactly correct. I see things blossoming over the straits and hgeading northbound so maybe things are finally destabalizing. For all the naysayers Miami NWS in this mornings disco mentions the possibility of wiping out the FFA if things don't going. We have some sun here so that can only help to startt things.


Agreed, the dew points are extremely high and the heat can trigger a lot of rain. "Watch" does not guarantee anything and they are being careful.

Keep in mind the flash flood guidance is fairly low over south florida because of recent rains. So, even moderate additional rainfall could lead to flooding. The watch is issued because these conditions are possible. Agreeing with a previous poster regarding watch v. warning.

This morning on Miami NWS:

Flood Watch, 90% rain

This morning and afternoon out my window:

Sunshine, blue skies, fluffy white clouds (did I mention sunshine?, yes I actually got a glimpse of the sun today.)


To be fair, NWS did lower the pops to 70% this afternoon :)

We will probably be seeing scattered rains today, like we have been the past....oh I don't know....few months...lol

Last night it started raining harder than it has this entire season. It is pouring again now. I bet the Keysgate area is getting pretty wet.

I disagree with the topic title, and I'll be very disappointed if we start questioning each watch issued by the local NWSFO.

As for the Keys Gate area, we're getting a pretty torential downpour right now. First we've had all day, but it's a good one. :wink:

Hey Canelaw, thanks for the update. Mentioned your area because Key Largo doesn't really flood, but I know the golf course up there can get standing water. Hope you have no problems. Radar shows the downpour area moving on any minute now.

Hi there :) I'm not close enough to the course to see it, unfortunately, but our parking lot here in the condos can flood with heavy rains. Looks like we have a river developing in the dips heading for the storm drains now courtesy of this mess lol Oh well...good thing I work from home so I don't have to be out in it - I can just appreciate it from the inside :wink:

rain coverage is definetly on the increase in South Florida

Sure is go look at NWS long range radar.... A lot more on the way as well. Looks like its going to be raining for the rest of today and this evening. I think a watch is warranted.
