Landfall patterns in October/Nov.

#1 Postby jes » Thu Oct 06, 2005 6:58 am

Where do October and November storms usually go --- East coast? out to sea? Central Gulf coast? West or South Gulf coast? Mexico? I'm curious if there is a pattern to October and November storm landfalls. I read in another thread that Texas thinks their season is over since the cold front is coming down. Well, it's coming to my area also --- Mobile. Is the Central or East Gulf Coast also safe now - as a rule? I really want to take my boards down

Thanks --- that was most helpful. It appears that the most likely scenario for October is for storms to turn North East and miss us.

October 15th landfall on the nc/sc border--the worst storm to hit the coast of nc--tidal flooding all up the coast of nc--water levels at record heights--so lets not forget that mid october storms can be bad

Normally in October, the main area of development is the NW Caribbean. With that said, you also see the cold fronts push further south this time of year, which usually pull the storms North or Northeast with Florida probably being the most likely target for the U.S. for October. But anything can happen, as we are still in a fairly busy part of the season.
