My camp in Waveland has still not been found.

If anyone has information on where it is? Please let me know.

We were on the South Side of the railroad tracks in Waveland.

I remember growing-up putting pennies on the track and come back to find them smushed. The trains go FAST through there.

Well, I will never be going to do that again.

Anyway, life in New Orleans sucks at this point.

Thanks --- it seems like I have to look at pictures over and over because it's still so unbelievable to me. Even though I'm in Mobile and our damage was much less severe, you're our next door neighbor and I think all of us along the coast are still in shock. How can the Mississippi coast and N O be gone --- you're just down the road. Maybe eventually it will sink in if I look at enough pictures.

I am with you jes. i am still in shock that this happened right here where my house stands.

Then driving down the street you do have your constant reminders of what happened, trees down, signs gone, and military everywhere. You do get happy and it feels alot more normal with all the people on the street but then you head over a bridge and see the Superdome that puts it all back in your head.

I know, we still have the constant reminders too. They just today began removing the refuge piles from my street ---- however, our refuge consist of tons of tree limbs etc ---- not houses and cars. I can't even imagine what you are going through. I absolutely dread next summer. To me it's sad, because I used to love hurricanes.

Now you earn respect for them.

I still love them but they are a beauty for the ocean. I am afraid expect much of the same next year.

Thanks for posting those. The MS coast will never be the same again. The MS gulf coast was my favorite weekend retreat. It is only a 2 hour drive from my home. It is still very painful to look at. 2 months after Katrina and I still feel so much pain with the destruction she caused. I still cry everytime they show the Red Cross commercial on TV. It gets me to thinking how I am so lucky and other people were not. Sometimes it makes me feel guilty that I came out of this hurricane season almost without a scratch to my property. And many lost their lives and everything they owned. They are still plenty of refugees staying here. And my heart goes out to them.

A hundred years to build it up and only minutes to tear it down...the power of nature!

Every time I see pictures of this area I get a chill. We were very close to moving somewhere between Gulfport and Bay St. Louis this spring. I figure I would have been just about getting around to unpacking the last box when the hurricane watch would have gone up.

Dodged a bullet for sure...this time.

Beauvoir got trashed. See http://www.beauvoir.org/ Projected opening June 3, 2008. That's right, 2008.

That is another thing that is so sad. The Jefferson House is a part of history. I remember my parents taking me there when I was a child. And I enjoyed it very much. I love looking at things from the olden days. I love visiting any type of colonial house.

Thanks for the photos. I am saddened indeed. I loved Beauvoir and wanted to take my grandson there.

Beauvoir was a wonderful, wonderful place. Very sad that we've lost
much of it.

This one really hits home. I have a History degree. What an awful, awful tragedy.
