Unfortunately, if it's anything like Irene, all of Miami-Dade and Broward County residents will go to work like nothing's happening, because the storm is supposed to go up the west coast -- and then it will come right at us, businesses will close mid-day, and everyone will be trying to drive home in the middle of a TS. Remember that fun?

It was not just Miami-Dade and Broward counties that got very heavy rainfall... Palm Beach County and other areas and counties also got lots of precipitation.

Don't remind me. I remember I decided not to go to school that day; just had a gut feeling in the morning that this was going to something bad so I stayed home; I remember all the local mets saying this was going to go west of us and nothing will happen, just some light rain and they even had Alex Penelas, who was then county mayor, going on TV and telling everyone that everything is normal and that all businesses are open; boy was everyone wrong, except the NHC, who had put watches and warnings for the EC of Florida

By the way, once again the Atlantic is ahead of the West Pacific Ocean by 1 storm.

Hi everyone, I have a question.

If this thing develops... is there any chance of it moving toward NE Mexico? Thanks in advance.

NE of the Yucatan Peninsula maybe.. but with NE MExico I'm referring to "Gilbert and Emily" Land.. or "Below Texas".

pick a 10 loop image and click on the tip of the Yucatan - also put it at 100% for quality - appears the center is just exiting the shoreline at the tip and it is fairly exposed right now.

skysummit - you just beat me to it! 8-)

forgot to mention - isn't it awesome to see the heights of the clouds like that?!! I love to use this one on occassion to get a real feel for the layers when the satellite exposure is right.

but all we are asking for is hard concrete evidence to back up your thoughts...why do you think the Keys will get hit? instead of IMO...tell us why you have this opinion, and back it up with facts

Personally, I was under the impression that in the Talkin Tropics forum we could all express our opinions, whether or not we have "expert" analysis to back what we're saying up. I thought the Tropical Analysis forum was created for those that didn't want to read just general opinions. I'm not trying to be a mean lady here, but I just don't understand why everyone is so harsh lately towards certain members in particular. If people don't want to answer Christy's questions, then just don't answer them. But y'all don't have to freak out every time she or, for example, dixiebreeze posts something, especially, in my opinion, in this particular forum. If you want cut and dry, no-nonsense analysis, then you're probably better off sticking to reading the Tropical Analysis forum. Talkin Tropics is for just that--talking! Or at least that's the way I thought this board was intended to be set up......... :(

I am totally with you.
:notworthy:

I like to joke around and attach emoticons when I do tease someone but the attitude towards the posters you are referring to is over the line.

When I find someone who is just plain "out there", I post my thoughts, PM a Mod; and failing that working; simply ignore them.
Oh, I tell them first that I will ignore them but then I DO.

Should definitely see a TD soon, this buoy has been reporting 25kts+ west winds and pressure dropping.
