Wasn't expecting to come home to this! I wonder if the name Stan will be retired?

You are right,
Dennis caused at least 71 deaths in the United States and Caribbean

If El Salvador (where the bulk of the deaths have been) requests for Stan to be retired, which is extremely likely, since they rarely get affected by Atlantic hurricanes like this, then it will be retired.
Klaus burst a dam in Georgia. Actually, the low pressure system that swallowed Klaus burst a dam in Georgia.
Cesar was retired, Stan will likely be retired.

And Klaus. Honestly. Why was Klaus retired?
From what info I've been able to find on the internet about Klaus, I think Klaus caused severe flash flooding and mudlsides on Martinique, killing 8.
I think it was a similar situation to Hortense. A weak system that dumped a tremendous amount of rain.
The remnants of Klaus later caused serious flooding in South Carolina. This resulted in a dam burst that killed 4 people.

Diana didnt kill as many people, but it devastated the state of Veracruz (plus, it also passed just east of NC as a 4 in 1984, which may have influenced the decision)
Actually, Diana killed at least 96 and left over 100 missing.
Hurricane Diana (1990) remains one of the most difficult storms to find info about on the Internet.
