Yeah...I'm not getting this whole mis-communication thing. It's almost as if people are offended that it won't be purely tropical...like there is a desire to see another cane so much that the meteorology behind it is being ignored. Not sure why some are doing this. Nobody has said it will not develop...I've even said it will be called Tammy...and that it stands a better chance to develop if it moves up the east coast of Florida with a split in the energy (which is kinda what the GFS has been showing).
It's almost as if people are offended that they will only get some hybrid development out of this and not some purely tropical system in the Gulf, complete with CDO and eye. That's not going to happen...but there will be lots of rain and some wind (gradient alone with the front will see to that).
There are quotes from the NHC...but even the NHC is not coming out and telling you they think it will be some sort of hybrid...because frankly...as someone else said...it really won't make that much of a diff for folks in Florida who will still see lots of rain and some wind.
i agree afm...well my car is fixed so im heading back to mobile and try to make it back in time for class...be back on later

Its been quite windy around here today. I think we will get more out of this than we got from Katrina or Rita. Tonight and tomorrow should be interesting. With all that convection maybe TS gusts are possible in squalls.
Yes I agree. We'll have much more from this vigorous wave than Katrina or Rita. I think people will be surprised how stormy and windy it will be here tomorrow and Thurs.

They are called people I disagree with, and are so desperate to see a storm at all costs, they don't care who they offend, or who gets injured/damaged/affected by it. These are the same folks that are desperate to see the Greek Alphabet. It is also interesting that the folks who feel that way are a) usually teenagers, or b) live nowhere near the tropics, or c) don't own property.
The greek alphabet lovers can chew on this..alpha, beta, chi, delta. There they are happy and we dont need storms to get there.

Certainly possible as the gradient tightens. Lots of strong gusts out over the water now as the sfc pressure is about 1008 mb.

Well, you're well north of me, so maybe ...
I'd be stunned if I saw anything remotely like what I got from Katrina (cat 1 landfall directly over me) but I wouldn't be surprised to see more than I got from Rita.

It is pretty windy up here by the Space center. I would assume its due to what you are talkig about with the pressure gradient.
Yep...you have a 1025mb high over the Ten. valley...and an 1008 mb low over the Bahamas...makes for some good gradient. Florida will see a lot of rain with some people seeing some TS force gusts even if it doesn't develop.

Funny ... 2 minutes after you posted that, the image updated with the latest GFDL run, which does a stall and turn in north Florida, but no loop.
Of course, if the system tracks up the peninsula like that, there won't be development.

Thank you Air Force Met for that explanation- I was wondering
why it was so windy today

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but, the latest Miami WSFO discussion now has begun to downplay the entire tropical wave/tropical cyclone/flood event scenario of the past couple of days, and although they still think there might be a period of heavy rain, today's wording is much more conservative than previous discussions:
