Wow... what is going on?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Finally some better looking showers developing off to my east.
I'll hope for much needed rain. 2005 summer was the driest
ever at least as long as I've lived here on the Bay.

I think he meant to accept it as a part of life in Florida, so that's why I said it is best to accept Florida's rain and thunderstorms. Anyway, some areas of Florida really would appreciate and need the rainfall.

Agreed on just about everything you said... in addition, I got wind as well and it was very windy and gusty outside in my area as well! It has cleared up now and the rain has dropped off and is now mostly a light drizzle, but it is very gray outside with very little sun. The main difference is that when I get a break from the rain, the sky is a lighter shade of gray before more rain moves in and the on-and-off pattern repeats and goes on and on and on...

By the way, welcome to Storm2K! Nice to meet you!

Thanks CapeVerdeWave. I'm not really "new" to the site, I've been on here for a year or so, but I've never posted before now. :D

This was happening yesterday where I am also. We were at a friends house in Deltona and from about 2:30pm, dark fast moving clouds would dump a lot of rain for about 5-10 minutes then blue skies. 10 minutes later, another, then another, then, another. It lasted until about 6:30. I kept wondering if there was some tropical system next to us as it seemed exactly like that

*UPDATE*

It has been breezy today with many scattered clouds, but with fewer and more widely scattered showers and/or thunderstorms.

Here in eastern Boca Raton it feels like I am going through feederbands or rainbands surrounding a tropical system! There are several periods of very heavy, wind-driven rain and very gusty winds and drizzle. Currently, conditions are like that here right now. The clouds are low, light to somewhat dark gray and are moving quickly... just like when you are in the bands of a tropical system (e.g., a tropical storm or hurricane)! Also, I am not hearing very much thunder at all.

I am checking radar and satellite images and they show lots of easterly rain showers making their way into Florida. It is almost unbelievable... these are typical easterly showers and thunderstorms from the Atlantic, and it feels like I am in a tropical system and feederband/rainband events!

Who else in Florida is experiencing this? Anyone in south Florida noticing this? Post your current conditions/experiences now!

NOTE - This is like experiencing a tropical storm... without power outages and worse effects other than rain, wind, and flooding! Very cozy!

I'm in East Boca Raton about 1 mile from the Atlantic. Yes, we've seen some showers with gusts to 30 mph maybe but that is it. No TS 40mph+ winds yet.

Look for the showers and squalls to increase in coverage across much of S. Florida through Thurs. with E winds increasing to 15-25mph with higher gusts to 35 mph in squalls.

I've lived in Tampa for many years and they are always dry, especially the western coast of Pinellas, Pasco, and Hernando counties. Usually the storms dissipate or do not make it more than a couple of miles from the Gulf. The only wet summer that I can remember was 2004, a major anomoly. It rained everday it seemed. It's funny because if you go inland to Polk County or South past Sarasota, the rain is much more plentiful.

I am also not far the beach and the Atlantic... in fact, I am close to the same distance as you are from the ocean.

Agreed... I have seen gusts to near but below 40MPH as well, but they have been only gusts, although they have been plentiful.

The upper west coast of Florida and the Tampa Bay area and in some other areas of the state really need some more rain... here in southern Florida, we have really seen a lot of precipitation. I have also noticed what you noticed about the upper west coast of Florida and the Tampa Bay area often being dry.

Unfortunately Tampa Bay's avg monthly rainfall drops considerably after September. September's avg is 7.25 inches and October's is 3.36 inches, a 54% decrease. November is the second driest month of the year at 2.37 inches. If mother nature wants to balance Sept. with Oct she will have to do it with a tropical system.

Got some good squalls about 45 minutes ago. Gusts maybe to 30-35 mph. Heavy rain. Felt nice, but very tropical. Something is stirring out there.

The whole state is like that. That is a huge tropical wave to our east.

It has looked like that for the last 3 or 4 nights. Been getting squalls the last several nights.
