Being thankful
I'm thankful for good times, for those are the days I live
and also for bad, 'cause that's when I learn the most about Life
I'm thankful for the people who've come into my life,
And those that just passed by
I'm thankful for all that I know; and all that I don't
I'm thankful for the things I have, because they make me feel rich
And all the things I don't, for they make me richer
I'm thankful for the food in my belly and the roof over my head
They're not as easy to come by as one would think
I'm thankful I still have dreams; and thankful that I'm finding a way to make those dreams come true.
and also for bad, 'cause that's when I learn the most about Life
I'm thankful for the people who've come into my life,
And those that just passed by
I'm thankful for all that I know; and all that I don't
I'm thankful for the things I have, because they make me feel rich
And all the things I don't, for they make me richer
I'm thankful for the food in my belly and the roof over my head
They're not as easy to come by as one would think
I'm thankful I still have dreams; and thankful that I'm finding a way to make those dreams come true.

What a beautiful thought!! An early "Thanksgiving" thread in October, but especially insightful right now!
Grim is thankful for the very fact I am alive, and reasonably healthy!
I am also thankful for my wonderful daughter, and the rest of my family.
And, I am also thankful for the learning and friendships I've gained from being an S2K member!!!

Now so more than ever, I'm thankful for the freedoms Americans have back in the States.
I am thankful that there is not a war on US soil; nor is their a dictatorship leading our country. Unfortunately, I really don't appreciate Pres. Bush; however, I see him, along with Congress, leading the Free World without passing forth a challenge to obtain a democracy in places that have never seen a diplomatic government. This would have never happened without perserverance by the military to oust a threatening dictator.
Nevertheless, one can freely say Grace at the dinner table for the gifts they are about to receive. Saying that, there is usually a huge feast sitting on the dinner table. Again here, we have no problems getting food for the feast.
Americans can 'claim' they are thankful for everything in their life. Spending Thanksgiving over here in the desert will not only make me appreciate what I'm fighting for, but will bring a real understanding to the word 'thankful'.

A lot of us here have gone through so much the past months, and even the past year. Loosing everything you own teaches you much.
I am thankful for my nephew Brandon coming home from a year on the ground in Iraq. He spent last Thanksgiving and last Christmas out on the front line. He is back home with his family and baby boy.
Yes, I have much to be thankful for.

Im thankful to have a home and a job that doesnt stress me out (most of the time
). I simply cannot imagine leaving my home before a hurricane knowing I will likely lose EVERYTHING. After Rita and Katrina I have never gone a waking hour without thinking about this. After seeing the destruction on TV and talking to some of my friends there who were affected my life doesnt seem so bad after all.

I give thanks to God; for His many gifts in my life. My wife and I will be married 27 years later this month, and our boys are healthy. Our infant grandson is thriving, and we have the essential needs. We are blessed. God has given us the ability to "give back." As long as I have hands that can grasp a hammer, I will continue to work with Habitat for Humanity. As long as I have ears that work; I will listen. God has blessed us.
