Why do people want a cape verde storm?
And also why do people think cape verde storms are the strongest storms out there because we've been proven wrong. A storm doesn't need thousands of miles to travel to become a monster, and once they encounter something they weaken rapidly. Take Isabel 2003, the fast developing Cape Verde Major Hurricane reached Category 5 twice. Then dry air got in, and bam, it weakened to a minimal 3 and eventually a strong 2. I'm not saying I don't like Cape Verde hurricanes because they are fun to track, but they are not necessary.

Yeah those types of storms are fine, I like those types, and I really hope we break the record. Only three names left and we go greek.

ok, we'll go tell the Atlantic that we think Cape Verde storms arent nessecary anymore, and she'll shut them down, I'd much rather have a Cape Verde System than a close by one, why? because, Cape Verdes normally rapidly intensify way out at sea, then NORMALLY weaken before getting to land, close to home storms, blow up all the way until landfall... most of the time...

Cape Verde hurricanes tend to threaten the East Coast a lot, and I don't like that.

One of the reasons is everyone likes tracking those long track hurricanes.. The ones that are out there a week or two.. Then the further west they come, it gets tricky with the possible threat... Not many will admit it, but they love to track them all the wau across, watch them grow and at least threaten the U.S. You can see this in the past posts where many gewt upset that they will be a "fish". Not that anyone wants a major hurricane to hit, but it is the thrill and excitment of the outside chance one will make it and they watched it from the beginning..
The other is, we want to see the record fall of course.. We need just four more names and that will be that.. And the way things are looking, we will have the record. Even if we get them in December like we have done the past 2 or 3 years.
I agree with you though, we have seen that Cape Verde hurricanes are not always the monsters out there. Rita and Katrina proved that not to be the case. It just seems to me that when most of the Cape Verde hurricanes reach the U.S., they have already reached their peak, and most seem to have problems as they approach. Unlike the in close development, they are on the way up and have not been out there for weeks. Different beast IMO.

I dont mind the hurricane, its the clean up afterwards that gets me... Otherwise i dont mind the few days we get off of school from them... Also, it keeps the trees thin, so if we get an ice storm, like last decemberkrysof wrote:brunota2003 wrote:They threaten me more than you, as NC sorta sticks out there... GRRRRR
Very unfortunate, but I'm very fortunate because NC blocks hurricanes, weakens them if they threaten me.

oh i see, you're trying to subliminly imply that i am immature, because i like or want a landfalling system...well at least i am honest enough to admitt it...i think there's still alot of people I disagree with out there, who would love to experience a Hurricane, but after Katrina and Rita respectively, they may not think its proper to say something like that
but i will admitt that i want a storm to come up towards me..and i admitt it
alot of ppl want to experience the wrath of the "Big Storm"...i don't think there's anything immature about that
having said that, i mean no disrespect for the folks who have suffered from these storms.....but its just a thing i have for wanting to experience a Hurricane, at least once more in my lifetime
and i love media Frenzy a storm can create

well lemme tell you my friend, there is absolutely nothing amuzing or fun about a landfalling hurricane in your area. Take it from the hurricane veterans here in the south.
