It's really hard to believe this is October 1. Looks like October in the Caribbean and GOM, but certainly not elsewhere:

I really dont like October because tropical systems form so quickly close to home and we often dont have the luxury of watching and watching long trackers across the Atlantic during the Cape Verde portion of the season. I remember how annoying hurricane Irene was in 1999. It was never supposed to make landfall over extreme southern florida but it did. Little if any time to prepare for it. Fortunately it wasnt a major hurricane though.

Friday night was really pouring here, actually did on Wed. and Thurs night too. I took a drive to Cape Coral today and it was really wet over there too. All of the activity over the last few days, seems to be the outer fringes of stan. When I was looking at the radar last night, it looked just like banding on the outer fringes of a tropical storm, flowing in fast from east to west.
