How about a few recent stats?

From 1995-2004, there were 32 named storms that formed after Sept. 30th. That's an average of 3.4 named storms forming in Oct-Nov (and Dec). In that 10 year period, 14 of those 32 named storms were hurricanes, or an average of 1.4 hurricanes from Oct-Dec.

So if this year is in line with the past 10, then we might expect another 3 or 4 named storms, 1-2 of which will be hurricanes.

Beta. Two October, one November, and another two for December. I like having some TS's around on my birthday.

I voted for Gamma. I have no scientific basis for that whatsoever.

I just think that Hurricane Gamma sounds cool. :)

If we're talking about cool-sounding canes, how about Hurricane Psi?

FWIW, today, Oct 1, 59% of polled S2K-ers think that we'll see a Greek system in 2005, whereas a month ago, 62% thought so.

*BUMP*

The way it looks now, at least 8 percent of S2k voters are wrong. I'll put together "version 3.0" in a couple of weeks...
