What kind of tropical system would you like to experience?

Nothing over a tropical storm for me. I stayed during Erin and Opal in 95...that was enough for me. After seeing the damage from Ivan and Dennis ...im glad we chose to leave the area. I love to track hurricanes that are out in the open atlantic which have no chance of destroying someone's life. Absolutely beautiful creations from mother nature..but much too freightning and deadly to watch first hand, as we've seen this season as well as seasons past. Good luck to everyone the next couple of months..and heres to a peaceful end to a record breaking as well as a heartbreaking hurricane season.

Between my first Hurricane that I remember in 1958(Flossy), Camille(in Gulf Breeze, FL and aftermath), Alicia, Allisson, seeing Katrina make Camille take a second place in some aspects, and having to just deal with the possibility of a very destructive Rita slamming Houston, and numerous other tropical cyclones of varying intensity over the last 50 years I HAVE HAD QUITE ENOUGH!!! I voted none.

OF course, if I could truly experience the full scale of a CAT5 and be safe and have no one lose life or property the rush would be unbelievable!!! WE KNOW THAT CAN'T HAPPPEN!!

Let's see what size would I like to experience Hmmm, let's see. I guess that depends on how much I liked waiting weeks for Nationwide to tell me I needed a new roof. How much fun it was not to have power for a couple of weeks. Cold showers and making coffee on the BBQ. Oh yes, driving around wasting gas looking for gas. Standing in line to get a couple of bags of ice and a box of MRE's. Eating canned ravioli till it came out my ears. Listening to chainsaws running 18 hours a day. The daily treat cooling off in the car burning gas that would be hard to replace. Oh yeah, tropical systems are such fun and all of the above came from one weak Cat 2 and two Cat 1's.

I would not mind putting on the old rain jacket in having a little fun with a cat1 or maybe 2. In maybe in about 70 years go out with a cat5.

I vote NONE too....Frances and Jeanne last year was enough........i only lost power for 2 days and that was ENOUGH FOR ME!!!!!!!!! Having no power really bites!!!

I voted for none. I did get stuck offshore in the GOM for TS Cindy and that was enough rocking for me!! I live in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana and I evacuated for Rita. I was fortunate that my home wasn't swept away by the surge or blown apart by the winds. I did suffer some damage to the roof, but at least I had a home to come back to. I'm addicted to Tropical Weather, but that's so I can leave home before it gets too late!!!

I voted for a Cat 2, but honestly after the Rita experience I realized it's not nearly as exciting when the cone is pointing in your direction. There is too much to worry about to enjoy it.

I never thought I'd say this, but I may change my vote to none.

Even though we really, really need the rain right now and a TD would help things - I voted None.
I have experienced enough tropical weather (7 total) to realize that anything more than a Cat 1 is not something to be messed with.

I'd like to experience a major hurricane - in a hurricane-proof building on high ground. Then drive off so I don't have to deal with the aftermath. I You didn't ask for a realistic wish! I always wanted to be in the eye of a hurricane. I actually was, kind of, at age 6 or so, when Agnes came over Dothan AL. When the winds calmed down I grabbed an umbrella and headed outside. I remember being very disappointed that it was nothing like my conception because by that far inland the eye was just a less-windy drizzly area. Thoroughly boring. Of course I would never wish a major hurricane on anybody for that - not that my wishes amount to a hill of beans here.

I always enjoy a good tropical storm. Anything above that, while exciting to witness, isn't worth the cost.

None ever again after Katrina. It was NOT fun or exciting it was just scary as he--!!!!!! Been there, done that and got a I survived Katrina tee shirt and pin!. I thought I wanted to experience a hurricane but I was sooooo wrong. I will leave here for a TS now--just in case it strengthens.

It is not worth wondering if you are going to die and also not worth putting your family and friends through the anguish of not knowing if you are OK when they see the damage on TV. Red Cross told a friend of my daughter that Ocean Springs was gone and there was no way we survived if we were there. GREAT!!! Just what you want your loved ones to hear. Don't make your mom have to call Red Cross to try to get info about you!

While I find storms and weather to be quite interesting, I've experienced Hurricanes before and I would rather see them stay out at sea, than make landfall, especially if they are headed toward Florida.

Interesting, there are as many people who voted for "Cat 5" as "none".

Anyway, I have no idea. It would be exciting to witness one but I also know that it can be destructive.

I wonder how many people that have been through a cat 4 or 5 voted they would like to go through another. Fairly low number I'd bet.

I'd still sick around for a 3 or LESS, but I'm gone after that. My shutters
are Miami-Dade cat 5 certified, tie downs on every stud, walls anchored
to the slab.

Now, I can proudly say that my home withstood Katrina with only
minor damage. My neighbors scoffed at me when I cut all my pine trees
down in 2001. I kindly reminded them of that as they were complaining
about pine trees in their roof, and why I didn't get any in mine.
