I'm not to sure how hurricane Rita related this is... but as she was passing over southern Ontario, thunderstorms spawned an F1 tornado near Feversham.

I know I had one over my house at around 3:30 Saturday morning. I was still up, chatting in the chatroom (thanks for those who put up with me) and it was actually quiet outside when all of a suddent it sounded like a huge jet taking off. I freaked out needless to say!

You can add at least six more for Mississippi.

Warren County
1.) F0 tornado - path length .12 miles - path width 7 yds
Quote:
MAN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 61 NORTH DROVE HIS TRUCK THROUGH THE TORNADO.

It's flatter'n a fritter if he was north of I-20, so how he didn't see it is beyond me. Unless he did it for funsies.

There were a huuuge number of tornado warnings for Mississippi when Rita came through.

Friend of mine was sleeping, wife driving when they drove into an F0 in northern Michigan a few years ago. It was obscured in rain and they didn't see it until they drove into it. It was similar in size to the one reported above, small enough that it did no real damage to the 3/4 ton Ford they were in, but they did wind up in the oncoming lane.

More than huge... I don't think I've ever seen so many warnings. The Jackson NWS Office issued hundreds of warnings alone...

I'm shocked that tuscaloosa tornado was only a F1. It looked HUGE on the video I saw.

Yeah, the video was quite impressive...however, if it didn't hit anything at it's peak intensity and F1 damage was the only thing that was observed, that's what rating it would (and did) receive. Such is the nature of the Fujita scale...
