Some of these records have been either equalled or been close in recent times.

Most hurricanes at same time: 4 (also on September 26, 1998; Hurricanes Georges, Ivan, Jeanne and Karl)

no year has had 7 hurricane strikes in one season but 1985 had 6 (Bob, Danny, Elena, Gloria, Juan, Kate)

2004 was close to that (Alex, Charley, Frances, Gaston, Ivan, Jeanne) (some people consider Alex a hit as his eyewall did affect North Carolina)

several years had more hurricanes that 1886 (1969 with 12, 1950 and 1995 with 11)

Or you could view the pre 1900 with the skeptisism it deserves.
