THE MID/UPPER LOW WILL REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY OVER THE E GULF
TONIGHT INTO EARLY WED. HOWEVER...GFS IS MORE AGGRESSIVE THIS
MORNING...SHOWING AN AMPLIFYING SHORTWAVE TAKING THE LOW OFF TO
THE NE SLOWLY BACK ACROSS THE AREA LATER WED...AND EVENTUALLY AWAY
FROM THE AREA THU. AM THINKING THAT WED COULD BECOME AN ACTIVE DAY
WITH POSSIBLY NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS...SOME STRONG...DEVELOPING.
REASON BEING INCREASING MOISTURE (PWATS TO 2 INCHES)...INCREASING
INSTABILITY (AS MID LEVEL TEMPS AGAIN FALL)...AND ALSO POTENTIALLY
SOME GOOD PVA FROM A VORT MAX NOW OVER THE NE GULF WHICH IS
PRODUCING THUNDERSTORMS AT THIS TIME. GFS SHOWS THIS PIECE OF
VORTICITY WRAPPING AROUND THE MID/UPPER LEVEL LOW AND ROTATING
ACROSS THE AREA WED AFTERNOON. SHOULD THIS OCCUR...WHICH SEEMS
REASONABLE...WEDNESDAY COULD BECOME ACTIVE. HOWEVER...GFS FORECAST
SOUNDINGS DO SHOW INCREASING MID LEVEL MOISTURE WHICH WOULD NEGATE
A SEVERE POTENTIAL. STILL IS SOMETHING TO WATCH. TRENDED POPS
UPWARD TO HIGH-END CHANCE CATEGORY FOR WED.
IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT...ALTHOUGH THE REMNANTS OF RITA
GOT PICKED UP BY A TROUGH...AT LEAST A SMALL PIECE OF HER ENERGY
MAY ACTUALLY BE THE AFOREMENTIONED VORT MAX NOW OVER THE NE GULF.
SATELLITE/WATER VAPOR LOOPS BACK IN TIME...AS WELL AS THE CIMMS
SATELLITE DERIVED VORTICITY SEEM TO SUGGEST THAT PERHAPS THE TAIL
END OF WHAT WAS LEFT OF RITA BECAME TRAPPED UNDERNEATH A RIDGE AND
SHUNTED BACK INTO THE GULF.
