RITA'S FLOODS COULD BE HISTORIC AS FLOYD BUT...........

She is no Hugo and she is no Katrina for sure. She never even looked half as impressive on visible satellite than Katrina at her peak even though her pressure was lower. Dont get me wrong she will do damage but the estimates look to be nowhere near Katrina's Andrew's or hugo's most likeley. We will have to wait and see. Her flooding could make up for it. It looks like everyones prayers have been answered. She could of come in a 155 mph hurricane with gusts close to 200. It seems Rita never could get her act together every since she started her very first eye replacement cycle. That is what made the difference.

No large areas of dry air disrupting the bands meaning non stop rain. Here we had 14 inch estimates for Frances but got 4 inches really. If she stalls inland you can greater than one foot totals in large areas easily.

CNN met was just saying they expect 2 FEET of rain in a good sized area.

The flooding could be one of the major stories of this hurricane when it's all said and done. Inland flooding causes a lot of deaths. :(

We had over 25 inches of rain in North Carolina from Floyd. I doubt its worse then that.

Before we decide where Rita rates with other hurricanes, let's let her make landfall and see what happens. Each hurricane is different and the type of damage will be different.

I just hope all are safe. It will be a while yet before we see the surge and even longer before we can assess the rainfall totals.

IR sat still intense, radar looking bad, eyewall reaching Cameron about now.
