according to a post here a few days ago. They quoted a local meteorologist as saying that if Freeport got SW winds then things would be relatively ok but that if Freeport for NE winds then Galveston Bay would flood catestrophically we'd have 5 dollar gas.
Freeport is about 20 miles south of Galveston, and things look pretty good right now for it getting SW winds from Rita passing to the north.

Freeport is about 50 miles south of Galveston, not 20.
The surge is already about 2-3 ft in Surfside and rising.
