This Post Not Intended To Flame Joe B.

#1 Postby tropicstorm » Thu Sep 22, 2005 7:50 pm

But, he seems to be pretty unpopular on this board with the masses. Oh yeah, it's about 50 / 50 here, I guess. Some like him and respect his forecasts. Others think that he is arrogant and an opportunist with his FoxNews national coverage. But, I think I've pinpointed the reason why he is not well received and this could be a bit politically incorrect. It's his name - Bastardi. This is not to make fun or to ridicule. This is not a racial or ethnic slur against a race, religion or national origin. This is just a funny name and people know it, whether or not anybody is willing to admit it. Think about it - and if anybody flames me for posting this, you just didn't really understand what I was trying to say.

Don't forget he's now a Hannity regular too, he's been neocon approved for all audiences.

You might have to give up your GOP affiliation if you flame the accuwx puppet too much.

What part of my statement is not true, name calling implies slander.

I think there is an agenda going on with a couple of people on the board tonight. Trying anyway they can to start something that is not there.

My bone I pick with JB and his Company has strictly to do with the totally unethical and unprofessional manner with which they are pursuing their goal of achieving totaly monopoly of weather data and forecast dissemination. They have resorted to impugning the reputations of some very fine people at NHC and have also willfully spread falsehoods about the NWS and NHC. This is unacceptable behavior in the Professional Community and he and his Boss deserve to be censured and condemned by the membership of the AMS. As an aside, He's going to have to wrok hard to get all of those major East Coast hurricane hits he was calling for earlier this season.

His last name has nothing to do with critizism he gets. It's the hype and TPC bashing that he does that has upset alot of people, including me.

His name could be Angeli and he'd still be an arrogant blowhard.

Anyone who watches/believes Faux News gets what they deserve.

Oh, but he's already created a classic Joe Bastardi hedge, in that he originally put the emphasis on the Gulf of Mexico in his FIRST season forecast back in June, before he fell into his annual "Carol" 1954 New England redux -removed- trap. He's got the opportunity at season's end to say something to the effect, "should have trusted my instincts more because my FIRST ideas were the RIGHT ideas!"

Gee JB, too bad the NHC can't be so cavalier after the landfalls and destruction have passed.
