This is quite incredible considering how far away the storm is. The NHC was dead wrong on the wind field of this storm. A hurricane warning should have been placed in SELA this morning. There is still not one, even with these winds!!!
Looks like some warnings have gone up.

My guess is that they're still showing data from when Katrina was nearby - they may still not have power at these locations or something like that. Their calibration could also be totally off because of Katrina. No other sites along the coast are reporting anything even close to that, nor should they be.

I'm not sure about that Purdue. That latest cell that just rolled through here in Houma gave my neighbors wx station a gust of 42mph. Earlier today, we had a couple gusts around 40mph also with those bands.

My first thought when seeing these numbers (in the 50's an hour and a half ago) was that the Grand Isle station was reporting bad information. Could have been given old info -- doubtful -- but more likely, that the new equipment was not calibrated. That theory seems not to cut it after checking four separate stations along the coast. Each station reported different yet similar (gusts within 8 mph of 90 mph) gusts.
As strange as the numbers look, how could four different stations be so close while giving indepedent numbers if each was inaccurate?
