Whatever the inconvenience, it just shows that if you're in the cone, you get out of the way. There is no accurate predictions as to landfall - she'll go where she wants, regardless of what anyone says. She seems to have shown her hand several times and each time, more and more people are getting out of her way which has to be a good thing as she could hit anywhere within that cone even at this late stage.
Just get out of her way and live to fight another day folks - you know it makes sense.

Hopefully, we have misunderstood your comment but as it stands whatever respect I had for your opinions has been destroyed. I'm sure you could give a rat's a** what I think but I'm sure I'm not alone. There is NOTHING hilarious about this storm (wobbles or not). Maybe it's time for you to find a new board where people might understand your sick sense of humor. These are extremely good people here and some of our friends are in serious peril and, at the very least, stand to lose everything they have worked so hard to build.
I for one will never read another of your dribble.

Lynn, you don't think I understand how much trouble these people are in? I do recovery immediately after hurricanes. Where ever Rita strikes, I will be there once the winds drop below 39mph. I FULLY understand the devistation. I've been working for the past 3 1/2 weeks in NOLA and the Miss. Gulf Coast. I've been giving homeless people anything I had in my truck...food, MREs, water, batteries....what ever may be of help.
I realize every one of these wobbles makes a HUGE impact on the outcome of where the landfall will take place, but when people constantly try to argue whether it's wobbling west, east, north, south, what ever they see with their own eyes, is just non sense. Every time there's a wobble or movement north, someone in La. makes a post recognizing that wobble and someone in Texas denies it. Every time it wobbles west, someone in Texas recognizes it and someone in La. denies it.
I did not mean it was hilarious that these wobbles are taking place, or that people are posting wobbles they see. It is funny though when a wobble actually takes place, visible to every one, and someone in the opposite state denies it, or in many cases, takes offense on the comment that looks like the storm will not head their way. Rita has brought up more wishcast posts on this board than I've seen in a very long time....after a while, it just gets old.
So, who ever took my "hilarious" post the wrong way, I did not mean to offend you or anyone in your area. I do hope the best for anyone in the path and will be praying for you till it's over and the days following.

I apologize for my uncharacteristic outburst. I am worried sick about all the people in Texas and LA and seeing the word "hilarious" in conjuction with Rita just hit me SO wrong.
Thank you for all the work you have done on behalf of the victims and please accept my most humble apologies. I am truly sorry for the misunderstanding. I can tell from your response that your heart is really in the right place.

No problem Queen. I'll try to refrain from using any word close to hilarious
You're correct; this isn't the time or place for posting anything like that.
I'm extremely worried too right now. I'm watching the live pictures of Houston right now, and all you see is brake lights. I'm terrified for those who may get stranded. Hopefully those buses or fuel trucks can make it there, and get those people out in time.

The trend continues to the west, and even looks as if the motion has slowed. Not sure what this indicates.
From what I've been seeing from NHC discussions etc. wouldn't a slower storm mean a weaker storm? I think Ortt has mentioned a time or 2 that if the storm stayed over the cooler waters and was subject to shear in the area longer that she would ramp down somewhat.

O...
I’m nothing more than an amateur.....
I'm more concerned for any type of track towards Galveston..It is so dang strong that it may not have enough time to lose that much strength..
Along with that, all day long the consensus has shifted to north of Galveston...Any motion west is not good..

This 'wobble' needs to be watched closely. After examining some of the analyses from earlier and looking at the deep layer steering flow from CIMSS, I'm not surprised if Rita moves more toward the W tonight.
Take a look at the CIMSS analysis:
http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tropic/real- ... 8dlm6.html
There are two anticyclones: one situated to the NNW of Rita and one situated toward the E. The anticyclone to the E has been responsible for Rita's more northerly motion as of late. The anticyclone situated over C Texas is now moving toward the E ahead of an upper level low over the S Rockies. As the anticyclone moves directed to the N of Rita, it will impart more of a easterly deep layer flow and force Rita more toward the W for a time. As the anticyclone continues to break down and move E, Rita will then turn toward the NW. The 12Z CMC model shows this scenario. Although it's an outlier at the moment, it seems plausible that this might be happening.
EDIT:
Here's the 00Z analysis
http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/upper/upaCNTR_500.gif
http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/upper/upaCNTR_300.gif
http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/upper/upaCNTR_250.gif
So, at 500mb, the ridge is still holding fairly strong, but at upper levels, the ridge has weakened some and moved toward the E. The winds at 250mb are probably contaminated by the hurricane outflow, but are clearly beginning to switch toward the S over Texas, so whatever W motion with Rita should be short lived, but will be very important to the eventual landfall location.

Alright I have the perfect forecast, Over the last 30 mins. Rita has moved very little. She's trying to make up her mind which way to go, so if she's like my wife she'll sit there and upwell cooler waters and rain her bad self out.
Of course this won't happen but we can hope. Just pray she doen't do Allison thing.
