Pinellas County Florida feeling effects! Big Storm!!!

Madiera Beach, FL had overwash onto Gulf Blvd. last night due to the high waves on top of high tide.

Treasure Island Causeway saw minor flooding above seawall as well - without waves, just tide extra high.

Good thing this didn't happen about 5 days ago when we had an astronomical high tide!

Careful if you go "play" in the waves. We have a high surf advisory and rip tides could also be an issue until at least Friday. Some coastal flooding and beach erosion as well.

Amazing to see that we are having such effects with the storm so far away!

My drive home yesterday was also very hairy along 275 (raised highway) with high gusty winds while a rainband blew through!

Branches down yesterday, but today winds have subsided. -Just overcast with some drizzle. Expecting minor flooding during next high tide at the beaches.

I was on 275 last night also. It was the WORST I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot for living in Florida. Of course, I wasn't out driving during Jeanne or Frances last year ... but it was far worse than our typical super-squall lines that come through every afternoon during the summer. Conditions were really near white out, accidents all over. And this was in Tampa, Florida. I hope all those in the path of this storm are taking it seriously and evacuating.

That squall produced wind gusts to 60 mph in my neighborhood
around 430 pm yesterday afternoon.

The thought of a storm of such magnitude headed in my direction
brings tears to my eyes. Everything would be just obliterated around
my coastal neighborhoods if that happened.

No joke. That stupid squall that rolled trhough last evening obliterated the hibiscus bushes in the front yard. They are flat as a pancake. Not to mention that I have, like, a million little magnolia pods to go fetch that got blown out of the tree in the back. The winds that came though my area (Largo) seemed on par with Jeanne, if only for a short snap.

Yes that squall reminded me of Jeanne with its severity.

Does anyone have any record of official wind reports yesterday
afternoon with that squall?? Did they say anything on the local stations
about the winds?

no i could not imagine a storm like rita or katrina coming to hit the tampa bay coast so much of the gulf coast is already destroyed and rita is fixin to finish it up in texas........so please spare our beautiful tampa bay.
