That man is a storm magnet. I would be very very scared if he showed up in my neck of the woods!!!!!! That puts him about 300 something odd miles away from us in Baton Rouge. That is about as close as I ever want him to get!!!

I'm surprised the landfall poll didn't include an option "wherever Cantore is". ;)

Maybe TWC wants to offer him some distance as he's still recovering from his experience with Katrina!! :D

He and the boys will be sleeping in their vans before the end of this one. The hotels are closing down; them even being kicked out of theirs this morning. People have learned a lesson by Katrina, and that's a positive.

I just saw Cantore's report from Houston. It looked nice and sunny. He had to point out there are a few clouds around.

Cantore has been well AWAY from the action the last few storms. He couldn't be farther from the action THIS time either!

Has he been demoted?

if he stays in Houston area... he ought to have a much
easier go of it this time around... He may never want
to be the eastern eye wall of a storm again after Katrina.

he ended up abandoning his TV/Media job (along with his whole crew)
and ended up in a survival mission... The building they were in flooded
bigtime with many evacuees there... Jim ended up like everyone else
that decided to hang around and see... ended up being a spectator to
a catastrophic disaster...

He sure was far away from Katrina. Far away as in ground zero Gulfport.

Mr. Cantore has been viewing these beasts from within now for over a decade. To question his desire or reputation for these storms is incredible. Houston was very much on track when the crew arrived.
