Downgraded Tropical Storm Ophelia

Hmmm, looks like it's weakened. It will be interesting to see if it stabilizes or weakens further. Lots of unwelling, dry air and a bit of shear. It's going to be extremely difficult for this to be anything but a cat 1 cane by landfall.

What an extraordinarily sustained low pressure for a tropical storm though.

Not really. Typically...987 mb is a 75 mph Cat 1.

I've seen a few 995 Cat 1s, but I don't remember seeing a tropical storm consistently down in the mid 980s.

Seems to want to become a stronger storm but the dry air is preventing it doing so.

Geez, is she a hurricane or a tropical storm! She is changing so fast I just can't keep up! I always liked "breaking news" on CNN, looks like I'll have some again when they re-upgrade her to hurricane status again. :roll:
