Rob Fowler, our Hugo vet, seems concered about this one. He is telling all of us to keep an eye on this one.

All I know is that it will screw up the opening of shrimp baiting season this weekend.

I think every meteorologist is saying they are keeping a close eye on Ophelia..It is obvious no one has a clue as to where this is going...

Just too early to tell. Some models going out to sea...some crossing nw over florida....and some doing a loop possibly back thru central florida.

He did say even though the 5 day watch area included S Florida it was
really too far north to affect us here now..and if he's saying that he must be pretty confident.

Looking at BAMM and A98E runs...could be back in the Atlantic and depending on steering currents then....it actually could be at a low enough latitude to affect SFL if it came back.... Im no forecaster so thats a huuuge guess and prolly a long shot.

Basically what everyone else is saying: Keep an eye out. They have said that there are two scenarios. One is a loop back towards Fl. and the other option is for her to slowly head N. I think they like the N. track and Ophelia getting tugged by the front. They do say that she will be stronger than first thought, but are avoiding saying anything that would tie themselves down and/or start to scare people.
Watch out for large waves and rip current.

I keep sending IM's to Ophelia telling her that the beach season here is over and that Disney is nice this time of year. She said she knew a nice boy in Georgia, but was undecided.

All I know is that the wind has been blowing steadily and gustily out of the N NE for the past 5 days. Some of the locals are getting nervous with what happened in NOLA.

Hey as long as there is a Circle around the stationary storm anything is possible. I have not yet noticed that movement to the north NHC is forcasting. I do notice however a south movement.

Our news this morning said she is still almost stationary...and, like everyone else, don't know what she is going to do! They just tell us to keep an eye on it...I live about 35-40 miles west of Titusville, so we are getting a lot of rain.

Titan is still showing a nne motion and Dennis phillips said the risk to our area is going down He said even if it makes a loop it may loop again and go out to sea. He said unless something drastic changes.

It is not getting in the GOM, so don't worry about it. Louisiana will have nice weather for now and no tropical threats.

then he just said if it does loop it should be north of Florida.. He said he is thinking this because there appears to be a consensus of the models starting to take place.

With all due respect. I live in Florida and it is right off our coast..so yes we worry about it.

They just showed this lady down at the beach and she said it was gusting to 42 mph on her hand held anemometer (sp?). Sustained wind around 22 mph. Lots of beach erosion already and surf is kicking up with alot of seafoam and sand blowing around.
