It's definitely another strong wave with a vigorous low. I mentioned this system earlier today, but I won't commit on any strengthening until it persists over water for 24 hours. These systems have not developed in the far E. Atlantic so far this year. We'll just have to see what occurs. It is at a rather low latitude (near 10N), so that will help it...

You know, seeing the storms Maria, Nate, and 16 lined up like that makes me think of the storms in that movie Day After Tomorrow. They're obviously not as big as in that movie, but it looks the same. :wink:

By the way, forgot to mention that what you see off the coast is not the wave itself, but a leading squall line. The actual wave/low is still inland...

didnt forget to mention it....figured it was common sence....most of us in here know how to interpret sat pics :wink:

I agree that the exiting wave looks impressive. As to the issue with the fizzling of the other waves, if the culprit is the inverted T.s into the tropics and the SAL, then at least as to the first, the shear forecast maps seem to indicate the big one now at 50W is going to be lifting out. I am not sure what happens closer to that wave though.

almost every single wave that has come off Africa so far has gone poof. But Im gonna watch this one carefully as should be done. I think this one really does have a big shot at becoming a tropical cyclone.
