Notu sure why Accu-weather is stating this in this mornings pubic Disco. I do not see and have not read anything about a tropical threat later in the week for the S or W GOM.
Excerpt:
Another tropical wave along 85 west and south of 16 north is tracking west at 15 knots and is causing showers and thunderstorms over central America. This wave may play a part in some tropical mischief in the southwestern Gulf later in the week.

I saw this blow up of convection in that ares this morning but thought it would head west into the Yucatan but I guess they think it must be going north into the GOM. This is horrendous, don't we have enough to worry about with the one off the coast of Florida projected to cross Florida and into the GOM. MERCY.

I saw JB on Fox News last night, talking about a *possible* threat to the western GOM. Then he said a bigger threat was to the Southeast U.S. near 94L.
FWIW, some locals here have mentioned watching the GOM this week. I hope NOTHING gets into the GOM. Maria needs to be the last named storm, unless we're certain it's a fish. I'm still in shock over Katrina's devastation.
