Dennis - I ~did not~ blast you yesterday, on a different thread! I tried to make a point. Gone now but just want to say that.

Gas here is in the $3 something range. $3.19 for regular, mid 3's for premium. Hubby filled up yesterday, bill came to $52.

We're already curbing our errand-running. Instead of ordering delivery pizza the other night, we stayed out while running errands, parked in the pizza lot, turned off the engine, placed a walk in order, sat in the car waiting for it to be cooked and then merely picked it up. My kids thought why do all this? I said b/c we're out already (we would have called it in, but couldn't remember the pizza #!).

Also, I don't see anyone running their engines now, allowing the A/C to continue (football practices, etc.).

Maybe this will be a good thing - less fuel consumption?

I know you didn't. But I still had to say it, just in case that was the case. Wow, we're a touchy group right now (NOT you, Dennis!). :-) I think we're all walking around numb, then not numb, upset at how long help took to arrive in NOLA, then glad when it finally did, and we don't want to say the wrong thing either.

Maybe we all need to take a deep, deep breath! I for one will look past most comments, made maybe too hastily, from almost any member, right now. We're all on short fuses....

Take care when you do go Dennis.

$3.29 a gallon now  is this ever going to end? I know some of the reasons behind this but me thinks this is on the edge of "price gouging"......all it takes is a suggestion by the media, 10 minutes later, the price goes to EXACTLY what the media said, ah well, guess it's better than the alternative huh?

At one of two local BP's we frequent, cops have been stationed inside, near the registers. To catch drive offs w/o paying. The last time I bought gas there, they had signs posted on all pumps - card swipe payment only, no cash. Up until a month ago, our oldest daughter paid for gas with cash. And just prior to starting college her bank suggested a credit card, to establish credit. It's a good thing! Not that she's using it.....it's just there for emergencies.

What if you could only pay with cash and were on fumes? You'd be screwed!

Lately I've been trying to pay with cash, to offset our higher than normal credit card balance each month......

Has anyone else noticed the pump switch from cash/credit to all credit?

Mary, we had one station that was a hold out, "Pump THEN pay!" WELL....as soon as gas hit $2.49 a gallon, they CHANGED to prepay, well DUH! We (the PD) in 2 DAYS chased OVER 20 "drive offs", ya know, fill and leave without paying!

NOW...the casino near me is at $2.89 a gallon for the cheap stuff. We went to Flagstaff yesterday, I "HAD" to......I was getting "cabin fever", since gas went through the ceiling, we haven't traveled ANYWHERE, well, Michelle went to San Diego 2 weeks ago, gas on I-40 was $2.99, Flagstaff was $3.09.

Ya know, I don't get it, before all this happened, every station had different pricing but now, almost EVERY STATION has the same prices, anyone SMELL a RAT? :grr:
