Nope, I was hopeful when Linda called (since it was 228), but she was in Mobile.
Gotta remember, even when service is restored, the phones might not be charged or they might not have it with them. Good thing is -- we're here! And hopefully, like with many others, they'll come back as soon as they can and let us know they're okay.
On a personal note, I also have a good friend from KY who moved with her daughter back home to Gulfport after she divorced her KY hubby. She got remarried and had a second child. I haven't been able to reach them either.
I called a handful of other "Bailes" families under the MS listings in Yahoo, but they either aren't related or are 228 area codes also and so I can't get through.

I'm alive!
Our phones are hit and miss. Some within the city of Moss Point are working, actually they have been able to call each other but not out. Our cell phones have been iffy too. Cellular South worked until Wednesday, even thru the storm but stopped working then. Started working again yesterday afternoon and am getting more of a signal now. Most of Pascagoula's phone are not working.

I have been doing this, whenever someone says their name on TV... make a note of it and plug it in all those sites. Found 3 so far......Ain't the internet wonderful
We have one full name and a handful of first names. Did you find the one on Wikipedia where you can search by first name or last name or both? http://connect.castpost.com/
This is all helpful too http://katrinahelp.info/wiki/index.php/ ... _%26_Found But mostly that one site, so far. Hard to check them all.
Yup, the internet is wonderful and when they say "Information Superhighway," they aren't kidding! But sometimes (insert Forrest Gump pause), I need a road map!

Actually, http://www.wwltv.com/forums/search.php
Just enter a keyword, last name , then make sure you check the box that says, show post..not show topic....

Thank god you're alive and well Mary. Being that you were situated on the MS coast, I was very worried about you. I had tough times sleeping. I was lacking sleep for quite some time. But I feel alot better that you're ok.
I'm happy to hear from you also Cajungal:) I hope BillieJeanne is doing ok. I'll pray for her and for everyone that was affected by this storm.

Unfortunately, we don't have BillieJeanne's number and I haven't seen her post. However, chat regs? Has anyone seen her there?
Praise the Lord, TimNms's phone actually rang today!! No answer and no answering machine. But it was nice to get a ring instead of that recording. He's in 601 though. Still nothing for 228.

I'm glad to hear you're safe too. I was worried a ton this week.

As for New Orleans, the only folks left are the dead and dying. It's like a stinking graveyard there right now.

I am so worried about the many members we have from MS who have not reported in. Obviously we are worried about all of them, but it seems that a disproportionate number of our members from MS have not been found yet. I continue to pray for all the victims, but we hold the S2K family close to our heart.

Big Steve here; I left Biloxi on Sunday; August 28th only after I had managed to secure hotel rooms at a Best Western hotel in Collins, MS. My father and I arrived there later that same day and checked into our room. Knowing that the storm might possibly track my way I brought along a few hurricane supplies.
Many of us sat in the breakfast area of this small hotel until the early morning hours of Monday; August 29th with our eyes glued to the screen of a small ceiling mounted color TV watching CNN, FOX, and MSNBC. My local ABC TV affiliate; WLOX TV13 was also on at the time. Everyone cleared out of the room and the TV went off around 3:00 a.m.
I managed to get a few hours sleep only to be awakened at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning by the housekeeping department warning me that the storm was approaching and that the manager was asking that everyone in the hotel; a 48 room hotel to gather in the lobby because the weather was starting to get bad.
By this time the power was already off and had been since about 6:00 a.m. Throughout the day the weather got worse. The worst part of the day for me in Collins, MS on Monday was between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and when it came time for bed; we all went to our rooms without power; no A.C. and very little water pressure. I managed to take a shower at 11:00 p.m., not much of one since the water pressure was about zero.
Got up on Tuesday, August 30th, hot in the hotel; the sun was shining and no water. Everyone lined up with room trash cans in hand to collect water from the hotel's swimming pool to be used to flush toilets. I decided that morning to check out from Collins, MS and drove to another hotel; a Comfort Inn in Magee, MS; no electricity there as well but plenty of water pressure; very cold water for taking showers.
I stayed in Magee, MS until Thursday; September 1st only after I had managed to get a phone call through to my brother in Columbus, Texas on Wednesday, August 31 when I drove 50 miles north of Magee to buy gas and my voicemail message to him that day was for him to send in the troops and get his father and I out of Magee, MS.
On Thursday morning; September 1st after 8:00 a.m. someone knocked on our hotel room door; it was my brother from Texas accompanied by 2 associates who checked us out of the hotel in Magee, MS and took us to the Magee, MS regional airport where we all boarded a chartered King Air plane and flew to Texas. Tonight I can say that I'm safe and cool in a nice hotel room in a Marriott hotel in Katy, Texas. I am glad to be in Texas tonight; very glad. We plan to fly to Biloxi next Tuesday; September 6th to check on my house and hopefully all will be O.K..
