1. Take out of it's hermetically sealed glass case
2. Thoroughly wipe your butt with it

At the moment it seems to be the whipping-boy or political fig-leaf for people dieing en-masse.

5. Write an intelligent constitutional process to avoid this circus recurring.

'Problem' solved.

Oneness, agreed and one can assume that policies and plans will change because of this in the future. It still doesn't change the fact that the City and State did NOT execute their disaster plan.

Good.

Don't mind me, my eyes have been brimming for a couple of days and they finally burst the levee tonight. Sorry.

Well, to be frank, you are wrong!!!! The President himself called the mayor, said so himself, Max Mayfield from the NHC called his sorry rear end as well, both on Friday and Saturday and begged him to start the evacs... It was quoted on all the news stations on Sunday that the mayor said "I can't do it now. There are steps I have to take." It is un-real that now that all those people are dieing from his ignorance and the govenors, he is trying to spin this to his advantage... I hope they bring him up on some sort of charges for this.. He let the city, and his own people down..

[quote="None of this is acceptable - the lack of pre-planning, the numbers who didn't evacuate, the slowness and disorganization of the response. All of this after the massive $$$$ and effort put into Homeland Security.[/quote]

Well, read above... His lack of planning along with the govenor have led to this... I herd this afternoon from our local station here in Virginia that several companies of deputies and police units left last night to head for New Orleans.. The were call and stopped by the state of Louisiana once they reached Tenneesse and told to turn around.... We donr need your help..... So, you tell me, who is to blame for this mess... You sure as heck cant blame the President for all of it...

i do love the bit about the 'john wayne' guy though. in retrospect when he said that he's gonna get himself into a whole lot of trouble by saying this... perhaps it was a type of self-firing before being fired.

I don't ever remember any plan to use the School Buses to evac. NOLA. I may be very wrong but I though the plan was to use City Buses. I know the school bus option was there but here in Louisiana the city cannot simply plan to use an asset of another governing body. The orleans parish school board must give approval for any such use. In the case of a false alarm who is going to pay for the fuel, maintence, damage, etc. to the buses. I cannot imagine that Orleans parish schools would allow their buses to be part of an evac Plan. with no answers to the question of who pays for it. Trust me this is simply and economic issue. The board would be in bad shape if during a false alarm( NOLA has had several) buses were used and damaged or not ready when the schools reopened. That school system is already 25+ million in the hole and have been laying off workers for the last few weeks. Heck, they have had their finances taken over by a private auditor by order of the state. They cannot allow anyone to use buses as part of a plan. I know they should have but the reality is politicians make up the school board and in Louisiana EVERYTHING is political.

I know that the mayor could have taken them sunday as part of his emergency declaration but by that time it was far to late to collect people in school buses and ship them out.

He also said last Saturday night that, "... I'm doing this because I never want to be accused of not doing everything in my power to save lives ...".

Maybe 4WWL need to replay Nagin's comments at that time so people can see the concern and the dire warning he issued and plea for immediate voluntary evacuation. It was 10:05 PM, and hes said, please don't wait until morning for an official mandatory evacuation, evacuate now.

Katrina had also doubled its forward speed NNW at that point, so there was considerable time compression occurring, which no doubt prompted the NHC’s alarm that the evacuation must be made mandatory immediately, if at all possible.

EDIT: changed NNE to NNW

Next move will be to put Rudi Gulliani into some postion down there to make it look like the Mayor of New Orleans is incompetent.

They have to hang someone... and it's not going to be anyone of high rank.
