Absolutely with you on this!
I agree, the persons that came to houston/galveston area are very fragile and stressed right now. I dont think they can weather another storm, It does not matter where it lands.

The last Hurricane we had was Bob in 91 or 92 most everything we get are TD and TS b/c the water isn't warm enough but this year the waters are above normal even off the coast of Maine! In my life time we have had 2 Hurricanes Gloria in 85 and Bob in 91 or 92! but nothing since!

Maria, I am actually excited about her. I can only hope it makes landfall as a tropical storm/minimal category 1 hurricane, but it would also be neat to see it as a cat.2, though the damage would be just a tad of what I don't like to see. I do hope she makes landfall in Maine, or on the borders of Maine/Nova Scotia/New Brunswick.
Oh yes, terrible Juan. Was bad for sure. The name was retired after she made landfall on Nova Scotia in the Halifax Municipality.

cat 1/cat 2 storms are pretty fierce...strong cat 1 Jeanne last year
as it passed near Tampa Bay 12 hours after FL East Coast landfall
Strong cat 1 winds/ weak cat 2 gusts ARE SCARY! The back side of
the house was shaking. I was afraid the glass would break...

What is so bad about it? Might that alligator in Lake Placid break loose? Last I heard, the old lady was growing about five more

Well hoping for a TD or weak TS I can understand but a cat 1 or higher is
quite scary
I learned my lesson last year when I ventured out during Jeanne only
to scramble back in seconds later seconds before a huge gust sent
branches and roof tile parts flying in my general direction.

lol inexperience. Trust me, take it from the hurricane veterans down south, there is no such thing as a weak tropical cyclone. Just ask our friends in Houston what happened to them in 2001 when a tropical storm, yes I said Tropical Storm Allison did to them. Ill leave it at that
Good luck and stay safe this season.

Tropical storm Isabel in 2003 caused winds here, the centre passed 12kms south of this city at tropical storm force. Nothing too bad, a lot of rain. Power was out, so was school. A lot of trees were down, especially onto houses. A school in Hamilton, Ontario part of the roof tar flew off onto the school yard. Was pretty bad here, I do know the force of them storms.
