Unfortunately we still have some in that area we haven't heard from. We know that Ixolib was determined to stay and was sure his place could handle anything.

So glad to hear from FrankP and others, despite the fact that some of our members have lost everything. Life is precious. Material things are nothing. We must continue to pray for those we have no word on.

Again, I need to ask -- does ANYONE else have contact information on other missing members? I will understand your hesitation in giving it out to this unknown, unseen duck in cyberspace. But, if you can and will, please PM it to me for the contact list so that maybe we can get more info on our S2K family. I have had the heartwarming pleasure of hearing a few voices out there and will continue trying to reach others.

And if you can't give it us, please just let us know that you have the information and can call.

This is one of those times I really wish cell phone numbers were in a directory.

William here. I was in Hattiesburg when it passed near us. We lost power/water/phones/cell phones. I left to Meridian tuesday where there was at least water.

I'd guess that we had 120mph winds in Hattiesburg and I do know my barometer bottommed out at 27.95 inches there.

I'm not sure how I can do much internet because things are hectic here but I'm checking in. Hope everyone else is doing well considering what has happened.

Has anyone heard from rockyman? I don't see him on the list but his home is (hopefully still) on the west end of Dauphin Island, AL. However, so many houses on the west end of the island are just gone and the others are pretty severely damaged. Does anyone have any news from him???

I swear as soon as the 228 area codes work again, I'm gonna have to celebrate! However, don't forget, even when the service is back, their phones might not be in working order.

What's scary is, if they have no service, that means they're still in that area. In some case, I'm sure if they evacuated farther, there'd still be signal towers.

I've tried to reach MScoast (Kami) but no luck so far. I just added these to the original post:

HollynLA
skywarn (Metairie)
MS GulfCoast (Pass Christian)
One Eye (Ocean Springs)
rtd2 (Biloxi)
manofsteele79 (Hattiesburg, MS (Robertsdale, AL))
Agua (Ocean Springs)
frederic79 (Pascagoula)
PTPatrick (Mobile, I think)

I'll add more as I think of them. I've been away since last Friday with a family emergency and haven't had internet access until this evening. I'm going through the Severe Weather Check-in Policy now and trying to reach members from the affected areas we haven't heard from. Unfortunately, it's impossible to get through.

Yup, I've been trying ixolib (George), MSCoast (Kami), MS GulfCoast (Anne), and TimNms (Tim). No luck. Any chance you have some names that I don't? All the others on the list that I have from AL, MS, or LA have checked in.

Well, I can report that there have been no deaths in Mobile and Baldwin Counties of AL related to this storm. So those from AL who haven't reported in could be just because they have no power. I believe PTPatrick was in the Springhill area of Mobile and I'm certain that area has not gotten power back yet. They reported on the local news this evening that only 38% of Mobile County has gotten power restored. So, phone lines could be down or folks could only have phones that work with electicity.

I hope everyone is ok also. For the sake of everyone here, I've been worried about all of those affected. Losing material and property is nothing considering what this hurricane of this size and intensity has done. Being able to survive a precious life is what matters most right now and I hope everyone affected by this hurricane that is here reading this tonight realize that I'm praying for you all. This has been a difficult time for myself personally and it's heartbreaking to see the destruction. I've been lacking sleep lately and If I sleep at all I just have nightmares about all that has transpired. But if everyone here on s2k comes out of this killer storm alive, that's what matters right now and that will make me feel alot better.

To make myself and others feel better, perhaps it will be a good idea to donate something either to your local charity or to the America Red Cross strictly for the victims affected by this hurricane. You can also log on to http://www.redcross.org or call 1-800 HELPNOW for more info on how you can help. We are brothers brother and will get through this together through a special bond and friendship.

Wanted to say hello and thanks for everyone's prayers. The MS Gulf Coast is a holy mess (the other words I would use would get me kicked off and banned for life). I am staying at my mothers house in Moss Point which is just above Pascagoula. Thank the good Lord she had only minimal damage and believe it or not we got power back today, actually at about 2:20 pm. As I was trying to do my moms dial up which I don't know if it will work because of the phone service is very ify this lap top detected a wireless signal so I am bouncing right now. My mom said the next door neighbor does computers (her words) so its probably from his. I will go next door and thank him in a few. We have been trading (or just swapping) food and juice and milk (he works part time for Borden's Milk) the last couple of days. The phones started working at 6:30am this morning when my uncle called from Merritt Island FL so we are getting there.

I will say here thank you Iowa power and Georgia Power...those are just a few of the companies I have seen. If you live in Brooksville FL which is above Tampa, THANK YOU! The Brooksville Emergency Response Team rolled in to the Jackson County Sheriffs Dept on Tuesday afternoon and immediately set up radio communications for them. The courthouse was flooded with 5 feet of water and all of the radios ruined in the Sheriffs Dept. They have been working non-stop since they arrived and just wanted to say a special thanks to anyone who might be from there. The guys have even been working on the pumps for the water in the City of Moss Point. We don't have a lot of runing water its very iffy but we can flush when we need to do that but I know they are working on it.

I know this is long and I could tell some tales but I won't bore anyone with continued dribble. My house is gone, I have a brick floor and a really nice wood floor that is left and some pretty nice oak trees still standing but my family is alive and that is all that counts. So many people have lost their lives from this storm so I consider myself lucky.

Thanks again for your prayers!!!!

Mary

I am ok and living in Jay, FL.

If you did not see my thread about my harrowing experience of riding out the storm in NO east and the ordeal it took to evacuate the city 2 days later, the link for this story is below:

Thanks again for the kind words given to me at this hard time in my life,

Paul
