Hello fellow South Florida and Treasure Coast folks....believe it or not...Frances came to call 1 year ago. Kind of seems insignificant now.

We still have a long way to go untill Thanksgiving.

To be honest, I didnt have much from Frances here in southern broward county. I got much more damage from Katrina this year, then from Frances last year. But ofcourse it left its mark further along the C.Fla coast line.

It is interesting to note that Charley, Frances, and Jeanne all crossed over the general area of Orlando and Kissimmee after moving inland while trekking across the central part of Florida. Wow... a triple whammy... even inland areas of central Florida received quite a lot of damage, especially from fallen trees and tree branches.

It was nasty last year... and now Katrina... however, last year is nothing compared to Katrina's devastation along the Gulf coast. If you think about it, we actually seem very fortunate, even last year.

I remember it well...The beginning of 9 days without power...Like another poster said, looking back it seems insignificant at this point considering the past week. I'll take no power for a month rather than suffer NOLA's fate.

PS: May the rest of the season deliver us no storms...and if it must may they all enjoy fishing in the North Atlantic!!!

Yeah... I remember. Actually... it was the night of the 4th into the 5th when it hit, but I remember it just barely crawling at around 5 mph... so annoying.

I echo this statement... although a month without power might be hard, I'll be thankful and remember what Katrina did all along the Gulf coast, including in New Orleans.

Hopefully, this season will be a "gone fishing" year at least most of the time the rest of the way.

P.s.: Yep, I went through Frances. So slow-moving...

I know what you mean. I remember going without power for about 9-10 days here in Melbourne. I remember seeing stories about people down around your area that lost alot more than I did and especially after this years events, I feel foolish for ever complaining about just being without power. As bad as it seemed at the time, we were very lucky here.

I was going to buy some new things for my truck and make upgrades to my computer. I have instead decided to give that money to the Red Cross.

Can't believe its been a year already. Seems not long ago at all. I remember spending the night in the chatroom as the conditions steadily worsened. I was actually kind of mad because it weakened so much I thought it was going to be a dud.

About the time we got power back after Frances, the TV was showing the death and destruction in Jamaica due to Ivan. At that time, I realized that the inconvenience of being without power is really insignificant. I was just really thankful that my husband, three daughters and all our pets were safe. Our house was still standing and worst thing we had to endure (other than the 9 days without power) was cleaning out the freezer.

It was then that I realized that Frances sucked, but my family sure was lucky. I don't think I will ever whine about losing power again.
