After 3 months in jail, they still don't have a solid case against him. I believe despite whatever feelings we have about him, he should be released. I'm less convinced than ever that he had anything to do with her disappearance.

It's about time. Innocent until proven guilty.

I declare...this girl's murder and disappearance in Aruba is about as baffling as was Jon-Benet's murder...

Have they officially found her? I have not had a chance to keep up with the developments. Isn't her family from Alabama? I hope Katrina did not cause them trouble. God knows they have enough to deal with right now.

Nope... nothing. No body, no confession, nothing.

Quite frankly, I wonder if Joran had anything to do with it either. Looks like if he did, they'd have some evidence by now other than "reasonable suspicion".

Brent,

Do you think we have seen the last of Greta Van Susteren and Rita Crosby in Aruba and the last of Larry King's show being dedicated to this story ? I hope so!

It is scary how when the media went crazy over Chandra Levy, 9/11 happened and when the media went crazy over Natalie Holloway, Katrina happened.

Larry has done a nice job though covering Katrina's aftermath and since the weekend encouraging money donations to agencies helping out, etc.

I don't think so. I suspect once the Katrina news wears off, Grace and Greta will go back to it. Hurricanes is not their specialty anyway... I'd RATHER see them talk about something they know about.

But I hope I never have to hear about it again...

The van der Sloot kid doesn't impress me as someone who would refrain from "bragging rights" once he's in Holland attending college...someone will hear him, and the circus will begin anew. :larrow:

I agree that I think he will open his mouth, but the Dutch are waayyy to relaxed to be concerned about it.

Bellieve it or not but even the best police force in the world can have dead ends so to say, Helen...

very true, but i dont think anyone is arguing the boulder police or aruba police were competent.

I "guess" the Raleigh PD are incompetent then, too, as they haven't been able to locate a suspect in the brutal murder of a young woman at an apt. complex after a few years.

Dennis, by chance are there any unsolved murders in the Pinetop PD files?
Better look out cause Helen will start thinking of ya'll as being (you know what) too.

I don't think the Aruba PD had a lot to go with. She either left of her own free will or ended up on a boat or in the ocean. Either way that can't leave a lot to go on.

I thought some of the thiings said about Joran Van Der Sloot were over the line, given the lack of evidence to back them up. The main thing was when Natalee's mother called him a "sexual predator". Last I checked trying to pick up women in a bar is normal behaviour for a heterosexual male. I think this term gets thrown around too much, at least Dan Abrams from the Abrams Report was willing to question calling Van Der Sloot a predator. Unless he is proven guilty of rape or a crime of a similiar sexual nature the term "sexual predator" doesn't apply.

The whole Fox News coverage was terrible, totally biased and strongly implying those in custody had done something wrong. Natalie's mother did herself no favors and I would hope that the way she acted was only down to the stress and worry.

They have three local Aruban women who attest that Joran sexually assaulted them...ages 18 and 16. The youngest claims to have been drugged. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this suspect should never have been allowed to leave confinement.

As to Natalee? I still think that the many bordellos in the area should be checked, both on the mainland and the outlying islands...this can be done by "patrons" who are actually undercover officers.

White slavery is a going business in the Dutch protectorates and on the mainland; yes, it would be easy enough to keep a girl drugged, thus dependent...change her hairstyle and color and "paint her up", but a good investigator could "make" her.

Even if this is what happened to her at first she would have been killed and the body disposed of because of the massive publicity.
