Confused?
Why can not the hundreds of large transport helicopters the military uses, be flown to evacate these people? I have no military background or knowledge of the model of the chopper, but if you had even 50 of them, you could get many out. Also, these things can pick up dozers....get those gigantic generators dropped in there at the Superdome, with large AC units as well. It doesnt seem we are using our resources that are available. Why arent we doing that

The coast guard is in fact there using military helicopters to evacuate people.
They are not flying generators into the Superdome because the generators they already have are about to be underwater. The goal now is to evacuate the structure as it really is not sustainable as a shelter at this point.
