hate to even mention this but the ukmet is building a very strong high north of 91l and this looks in the last few frames to turn it back towards the WNW instead of NW but LONG LONG TIME before we should worry about it

FWIW, Katrina is a highly unlikely storm. It's a storm that happens from time to time, but we're unlikely to see anything like it again for quite a while. Yes, there are potential tropical systems out there, but there isn't much use in getting too freaked out by them at this point

Well, 4 major hurricanes hitting FL in 2004 was once in a lifetime, then another two more hurricanes hit in 2005, one of them major. Who would have thought. We are in an active period for hurricanes in the Atlantic. Another CAT 4/5 threatening the U.S in 2005, although frightening to think about given the current Katrina situation, is still a possibility.

September is the busiest month historically typically for the Cape Verde season.
