It's a little hard to see much of the area thanks to some cumulus clouds, but you can see Mobile Bay, Pascagoula, Lake Pontchartrain, New Orleans, and some of the nearby parishes.
Over the next few days we'll get better imagery of the region, especially some before/after shots and some much higher resolution imagery.

The ASTER instrument, which flies onboard the Terra satellite with MODIS (MODIS also flies on Aqua), is capable of ~15 m resolution, and had a near-nadir pass over new orleans today. I'm thinking they probably activated it, and it looks like they would get some ground measurements through the clouds. I assume it was activated for this pass.
