Jefferson Parish -- return info, martial law

Reported on WWL at 1:13 CDT.
Jefferson Parish president says:
Martial law declared.
Residents only with ID will be allowed back in one week only to gather essentials and then must leave again. Will not be allowed to return for one month.

Airline highway is under water. I-10 closed at Gramercy (?).

this guy has a history of shooting from the cuff....no way they can/should keep people out for a month......after a week people need to return to begin the clean up efforts.....look for the month thing to be brought in.

Agree.

Additional info: Monday is the day for residents to return for essentials. You must have ID to return. [That would be Sept. 5, Labor Day monday.]

I'm sure a lot depends on the flooding being brought under control.

yes.....re flooding under control.


im sure there may be areas of jeff cty uninhabitable in a month......nearer the lake....but i dont think this will be the case county wide.
