In US history, yes. In the world, no. The tsunami was much worse.

Might want to change the title to 'In the USA".

There have been many far worse disasters in the world.

The worst in the U.S. probably. The Dec 26, 2004 Tsunami caused over 200,000 lives, the 1970 in China tsunami caused over 750,000 both had zero warning of what was coming.

The difference between the tsunami and Katrina is pretty major. Those folks had NO IDEA the tsunami was coming. But there was plenty of warning and mandatory evacuation orders for Katrina. Sad sad sad.....

Has a chance from a cost standpoint, will rival Andrew in inflation adjusted dollars.

From a loss of life standpoint Galveston will remain the clear worse.
