This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Okay, last time - THE POLITICAL FORUM IS CLOSED.

Gang, let's keep the beefs with Bush off the board because it only stirs the pot and fuels the fire. Same for those who reply in support. Let's not turn this into a hawks v. doves discussion.

We are left with no choice but to bring the hammer down. Depending upon the severity of the infraction, posts will be deleted, threads locked, and/or members suspended.

You have been warned.

(Edited to add -- Apology accepted, Inna. :) The warning goes for everyone though.)

Honestly people, it is not the amount of or lack of soldiers, it is getting them in there......the situation has to be assessed so the plan can be put in place. For National Guard, they have to be contacted and given some time to get their act together. They are NOT active duty, therefore they lead lives similar to ours. Some active Duty can be deployed at a moments notice, but those are not as abundant. These soldiers still have to make sure they are prepared with all the RIGHT equipment to help these people. They have to also have support components available for them as well.
In all seriousness, would you prefer to see the 82nd ABN jump in(since it is hard to get in there) with no equipment other then what they can carry on their back?? How can that help?? Heavy Drop equipment that might land in flooded waters??? This is goign to be a HUGE operation and it has to be done right.

Thank you, Galvestonduck. There's a time and a place, and this ain't it.

(And I say that as someone definitely more of the "D" than "R" persuasion)

Exactly Correct. 75% could be overseas and there would still be enough to do the job...the problem is getting them there.
