I just heard that.....what a terrible situation .....I can only imagine how it must feel to be crammed into that place, with no ac and no electricity, worried sick about family, friends and property and being completely incapable of doing anything about it....
I just hope it doesn't get worse.....though I think it easily could.....

When they said the place lost A/C I thought "Son of a..." and had a sick feeling. As big as that place is, it was designed to be air conditioned. While well below capacity, those people are still giving off lots of heat. I am afraid that this will turn out to have been a mistake. I see where they had to do something, though. You just KNOW had they not opened the dome to refugees, then they'd now be getting blamed for many of the deaths. We are going to see a LOT of darned if they did/didn't examples from this catastrophe. Myself, the biggest mistake was made how many years ago - to build a city below sea-level. The more recent mistake was for anyone to stay in these areas. But they did - build and stay - and now all that can be done is to try and help.

...this is just an aweful story unfolding....just heard that about 300 people are still on their rooftops 30 hours after the storm in - sorry did not get the location.....also flood waters are still rising and lapping around French Quarter. Apparently, Emergency Management do not know why waters are still rising!!!?

Apparently, Emergency Management do not know why waters are still rising!!!?
1) Blocked drains so water dosn't run away - blocked due to sediment.
2) Water seeping up from drains as the drainage system is overloaded.
3) Break in Levee
4) Rain water flowing down the river - river already flooded so the rain water adds to flood
5) High tide - 2 foot tidal range
6. Pump failure/pumps not working due to need be started by a human being ie diesel pump so can't pump water away.
As I said the flood will get worse in the next 24hour then begin to level out...however, flooding in NO due to the levee breach could get worse.
