my stomach feels sick and empty

#1 Postby leonardo » Mon Aug 29, 2005 10:41 pm

if anybody is watching CNN right now...you'll know what I'm talking about.

Jeanne Meserve (sp?) is breaking down while on the air, just describing horrific scenes of human and animal suffering. I feel so terrible right now I don't really wanna wake up for a couple of days. I'm afraid to the number that we're going to wake up to in the coming days.

None of us wanna wake up to this reality. This is too damn real. I live in Illinois, have never been close to one of these, yet no single natural event (bar the tsunami) has hit me quite as hard as this. I've been through an F3 tornado. I had to walk through damage. However, I never saw death like this poor woman has now seen.

Now, we have to pray...pray for the best. Pray that it's not gonna be as bad as we are being led to expect. to all those who have passed, rest in peace. to all those who have suffered and may still be suffering, just remember that God is gonna take care of you. I'll be thinking and praying for all of you for a long time.

I'm feel speechless, yet I got this out. I feel depressed, but I just called my parents and girlfriend from here at college to let them I know I love and care. everyone who reads this, do the same.

God bless

You make an extremely important point: we need to pray. God will listen. The power of prayer cannot be overestimated. Just ask the 8 Jesuits who survived the Hiroshima blast.

i have that same sick and tragic feeling when i saw people trapped on the upper floors of the world trade center, just the helplessness of the whole situation.

It's heartbreaking and depressing to see those images and hear the reporter's voices break as survivors tell their stories.

We'll cry with the survivors...and for them, but we can also stay strong for them. They'll need shoulders to cry on, arms to protect them, voices to comfort them, backs to help them rebuild, and prayers to lift them up when things look at their worst. I understand those feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. But I promise, they'll pass and you'll look back and know that you were able to help, in the best way possible. Everyone can help in some way.

Don't give up hope.
