I wouldn't doubt it. Last night they showed a video on local TV that a Cat five could send 2 feet of water into 15 miles inland!

It's very possible there is flooding 6 miles inland or more.

If this is the devastation in Biloxi, I can't imagine what it's like in Hancock County, Mississippi (home of Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian and Waveland), which is where the eastern eyewall came ashore.

Yeah... looks like a wide area from Slidell to Biloxi are the "Punta Gorda's", only this time it's surge, not as much the wind.

i think what we are going to find in Waveland, Pass Christian and St. Louis Bay will rival the damage found in Homestead. If Gulfport had approx 37 ft of surge and winds of 134 (according to Cantore) i shudder to think what we will find in Waveland/PassChristian/st.louisbay. I mean we haven't heard ANYTHING from those communities, very very bad sign. From reviewing the radar loops i think those communities took the brunt of the NE eyewall

We are going to see amazing damage over the next few days. What a massive disaster this has been for the Gulf Coast

All electric, telephone and cell service to this area is out. Relatives who evacuated cannot reach anyone in the Gulfport/Long Beach area.

i still haven't heard any reports out of the St. Louis Bay area (waveland/passchristian) other than a one line blurb in the Southern Mississippi Sun-Herald that said "Major flooding". If anyone hears any reports from these areas please post.

Just saw on Fox News from Fire Chief 75% of Gulfport buildings have lost their roofs.
