Daring rescue caught on video!

I would link to the direct video but I don't want to kill this guy's bandwidth...its on the very top of page though. This man saved someone who probly would have drowned in his own car!

That young man does a GREAT job with his blog and he is just in high school. That was a WWLTV reporter who saved that guy's butt.

You want my gut impression of the video? Now, keep in mind that I don't have sound here on my computer, so I'm only going by the images, but...
I think that it looked kind of staged...
I know, it's probably not, but it just looked so planned. That car going full speed into the water, then the driver taking his sweet time "escaping" the car, the reporter "catching" the action...
I'm such a cynic...

I know it sounds sad, but that thought crossed my mind. Would a TV station do that for the sake of ratings? We live in a day in age where you wonder.

I can't imagine it being staged, as they guy could have drowned if the current was more than they thought... I did find it crazy that the reporter didn't say "Oh my God!", or something that showed surprise. He calmly says "Excuse me"?

WWL is one of the better TV stations in NOLA...its not planned no way. Think about this, the guy hit the water and stopped he was no doubt stunned by the impact.
Locals know this area floods so thats why they were there to report it. I new pumping station was installed there to prevent teh flooding and it failed.

Interesting
Taking a second look at the video I see what you guys are talking about, I really hope a station wouldn't stoop that low for ratings...
